1 month opportunity within a council setting for an experienced survey technician.
Due to short term increase in workload a Survey Technician is required within an inner suburbs local government organisation for a temporary assignment. You will provide high level supervision and technical support to ensure that all civil works undertaken within councils road reserve are in compliance with council requirements and industry best practise. You will be specifically assisting with data capture for open space irrigation network mapping. You will carry out data validation, drafting and reports to facilitate uploading of the survey data to GIS system and prepare plots, maps and CAD models within CAD software.
To be successful you will have proven experience in a similar role, prior local government experience is highly desirable. You will have a thorough understanding of the principles, theory and practise of Surveying and Civil Engineering and a qualification in this area. You will have a well developed understanding of surveying principles and the ability to operate technical and electronic equipment such as a high accuracy GPS unit. You will be highly computer proficient, ideally with experience in CAD. The role will be approximately 80% field work and 20% in office, so you will need to be comfortable working in an outdoor setting. You will need to be able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders. You will hold a current Victorian Drivers License.
