Animal Management/Local Laws Officer

An Animal Management/Local Laws Officer is required within a North-Western suburbs local government organisation to provide efficient and effective local laws, parking and animal management services. You will investigate breaches of the Local Laws and Domestic Animals Act, handling animals including dogs, cats and livestock. You will educate residents on Responsible Pet Ownership. You will also monitor all parking restrictions throughout the municipality and enforce in accordance with council policies and procedures. You will also respond to and investigate all complaints in relation to local laws, such as litter, noise, street furniture and overhanging branches.

To be successful you will have proven experience in a similar role and a Certificate IV in Local Government Statutory Compliance and a Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation or similar. You will have a strong knowledge of Domestic Animals Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Environmental Protection Act, Metropolitan Fire Brigades Act, CFA Act Local Government Act, Road Safety Act, Road Rules – Victoria and Council’s Local Laws. You will be a team player and have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to prepare reports, letters and memoranda. You will hold a current Victorian Drivers License.
