A great opportunity to join the team at Hume City Council in the position of Deputy Municipal Building surveyor is available for an experienced Building Surveyor.
Hume City Council is a fast growing interface municipality with established urban areas, a number of new urban growth estates, large commercial/industrial precincts and a more rural north. Within this municipality, known for its diverse population, you will ensure industry best practise by supporting and assisting the Municipal Building Surveyor to ensure that building control and asset and environment protection responsibilities are met, including quality building surveying, inspection, investigation and compliance. Working in conjunction with the current MBS you will be responsible for the day-day management of a team of 15, including involvement in the recruitment, training and retention of staff.
You will be integral to the review, development and streamlining of systems, processes, policy and people with the goal of responsive best practice service delivery to customers and the community. Furthermore you will contribute to budget management and service development strategies. The role offers a salary package of $165-185k which incorporates elements of working from home.
To be successful you will be a VBA registered Building Surveyor Unlimited and be highly knowledgeable of the variety of building construction designs, materials, elements and construction methodologies in Australia, with expertise in all areas relating to building compliance solutions, the assessment of building applications, legal interpretation and enforcement and compliance strategies. You will have an expert level competencies in Victorian building legislation, codes and standards.
You will be passionate about your profession and eager to innovate to improve outcomes. You will have exceptional communication skills and be able to provide clear advice, interpretation and direction in relation to building control legislation and compliance solutions. Your people leadership skills will allow you to recruit, develop and retain a building control team which aspires to be the best in their field. You will also hold a current Victorian Driving License.
