Due to a change in the team, a regional council has a need for an experienced Local Laws/Animal Management Officer. Joining a tight-knit team you will predominantly focus on enforcing compliance within the municipality in relation to local laws and the domestic animals act. There is the possibility of this role being part time for candidates seeking a role in a part time (2-3 days) capacity. The day to day will involve mostly using the council vehicle to travel around the municipality carrying out patrols, investigations and educating the public relating to animal welfare, livestock on roads and local laws such as noise, overhanging trees, street furniture and abandoned vehicles. With an excellent hourly rate available, as well as working in a regional area that is not in lockdown restrictions this is the ideal tree change for an experienced candidate.
To be successful you will have proven experience in a similar role and a Certificate IV in Local Government Statutory Compliance and a Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation or similar. You will have a strong knowledge of Domestic Animals Act, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Environmental Protection Act, Metropolitan Fire Brigades Act, CFA Act Local Government Act, Road Safety Act, Road Rules – Victoria and Council’s Local Laws. You will be a team player and have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to prepare reports, letters and memoranda. You will hold a current Victorian Drivers License.
