Project Manager

The Role:

Our client is an inner-city council seeking a driven Project Manager to join their rapidly growing team. From the planning all the way to operational phase you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of assigned capital works projects. You will manage the preparation of design, documentation, permits and approvals, construction and contract administration for complex projects. Some of these projects include major buildings, activity centres, sporting facilities, streetscape improvements and open space projects.

Duties:

• Ensure the project is delivered according to strict time, cost constraints whilst meeting standards;
• Manage design consultants and contractors;
• Lead and contribute to the initiation and development of project governance structures.
• Identification of risks and resolutions of issues;
• Oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle; and
• Set and continually manage project expectations with team members.

To be Successful:

You must possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in project management, engineering, architecture, construction, or equivalent with several years of subsequent relevant experience;
• Demonstrated skills and experience with project management systems, processes and procedures;
• A current Victorian driver’s licence;
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
• Strong ability to negotiate, collaborate and manage stakeholders, consultants and contactors in a complex public sector environment;
• Extensive knowledge of design and construction issues, and ability to present practical solutions, associated with capital works projects;
• Exhibited analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills and experience.
