This progressive council are at the early stages of an ambitious program of works which includes the development of a CBD greening project; major bike-path route development in conjunction with Vicroads, significant heritage precinct work, program management of an Urban Forest strategy and several other design-led projects.
They are seeking a mid-senior (band6 level) Landscape Architect/Urban Designer who can work in conjunction with the manager of the department to take project ideas and commitments from higher level strategies and develop initial concepts and more detailed designs that will allow these packages to be scheduled into future works budgets and programs.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in public realm projects and be comfy in taking aspirational briefs into concepts which are aesthetically attractive, functional/practical and pay due consideration to the input from a range of stakeholders and residents about what the projects objectives should be. Whilst there is a fair degree of higher-level concept development, as an inhouse design team the role will also involve the development of construction documentation for some projects so candidates should be AutoCAD literate and be prepared to work on the documentation phase of projects.
It is envisioned that this role will initially be a 3-6 month contract opportunity, but with the volume of work to undertake it is envisioned that the role will potentially transition into a full-time position which will be responsible for the development of further designs for other projects as well as continuing to manage the delivery phases of the existing projects.
