Working at a strategic level to analyse flood mapping data (including how it is applied to ensure its relevance and effectiveness as an analytical tool) to investigate, design and plan innovative solutions to drainage and flood related issues by applying a holistic approach to water management that ensure council maximise the opportunities for integrated water management, water re-use and WSUD. Utilise the flood studies to help prioritise, develop and plan around $3M in CapEx projects, based on organisational risk and compliance requirements.
Work at a responsive level to deal with members of the community about existing flooding/drainage issues to investigate and solve current issues. Provide support and ad-hoc advice to internal teams on flooding issues including Planning, Maintenance, Rates and other teams.
The ideal candidate will hold qualifications in Civil Engineering and/or Environmental Science and have specialised in Hydrology or hydraulic mapping (including having experience of using hydrology packages such as TUFLOW or RORB). They will have excellent communication skills in order to liaise with a range of external stakeholders (such as Melbourne Water), internal stakeholders, specialist consultants and the local community.
