Train the next generation of building inspectors!

Looking to step off the tools or out of full-time fieldwork and use your expertise in a different way?

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced Building Inspector to move into a training-focused role, shaping capability, lifting standards, and influencing how building compliance is delivered.

The role

You’ll design and deliver training programs for inspectors and technical staff—combining your real-world experience with structured learning to improve performance across the board.

Key responsibilities:

  • Deliver practical and classroom-based training on building regulations and standards
  • Identify skills gaps and develop targeted training programs and materials
  • Support inspectors through coaching, mentoring and in-field learning
  • Use a mix of hands-on, digital and workshop-based training methods
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously improve programs
  • Stay across industry changes and regulatory updates

About you

You’re a highly experienced professional who enjoys sharing knowledge and developing others.

You will have:

  • Strong background in building inspections, surveying or compliance
  • Deep knowledge of the Building Act, NCC and relevant standards
  • Experience across complex buildings (desirable)
  • Confidence delivering training, mentoring or coaching others
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Requirements

  • Registration as a Building Inspector (Unlimited) in Victoria (5+ years)
  • Current driver’s licence

Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to obtain)
