Council is seeking a Building Surveyor (ideally Unlimited however, can consider Limited Registration) to work on a contract basis. The position reports to the Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor and requires liaising with the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Australian Institute of Building Surveyors (AIBS), other Council’s, and Government Authorities.

Responsibilities include:

  • Assist with enquiries and applications and ensure that staff administers the relevant Acts, Regulations, Community Local Laws, and Codes applicable to those enquiries and applications.
  • Maintain an accurate electronic register of Enforcement matters, inspections conducted, and Infringement Notices issued and report monthly in line with corporate reports.
  • Prepare reports, Infringement Notices and Building Enforcement Orders, as needed, or as directed by the Coordinator Statutory Building Services.

You will manage your own time, set priorities, plan, and organize your own work to ensure project objectives are met.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Surveying with significant and diverse industry experience.
  • Currently registered as a building practitioner with the Victorian Building Authority in the category of Building Surveyor Unlimited (BS-U / BS-L).
  • Extensive and diverse experience in Building Compliance including a thorough knowledge and understanding of building practices and other regulatory responsibilities relating to building legislation.
  • Relevant experience in residential and commercial assessment of building permit applications

Immediate start on a contract basis initially for 3 months, potential for some work from home during the week.
