Working as the Team Leader Statutory Planning for one of Victoria’s fastest growing regional council you will help to ensure the delivery of a customer-centric service which looks to work with applicants to facilitate high quality and well considered land-use outcomes which are based on robust technical decisions that best serve the community.
About Wodonga
Wodonga is a major regional city about 3.5 hours northeast of Melbourne – ideally situated on the Murray River with surrounding hills, wineries, and historic towns. As one of the ‘twin-city’ of Albury-Wodonga, the region is home to 106,000 people with access to urban areas, education/universities, health facilities with the backdrop of gentle rolling countryside.
About the role
The role will be responsible for guiding a, talented planning team of statutory planners, a subdivision planner, growth area planner and planning support in the provision of concise, consistent land-use advice.
It is essential that the person has an open communication style that will create trust and teamwork within your team as well as giving you and your team the platform to form effective working relationships with applicants, ratepayers, and other internal and external stakeholders. Council has worked hard to develop a good working relationship with the community and create a good working culture, and therefore, continuing this is paramount to the continued success of the department.
Whilst Council’s processes are running smoothly, the role requires a forward thinker who is always looking for ways to improve. This could be by mentoring/developing staff through both internal and external training; improving processes to ensure best practice or liaising with the strategic planning team to ensure that advice align with council’s land-use policies.
The ideal candidate
Council is open to candidates from a variety of different backgrounds, but we would encourage you to apply if you are:
- A senior planner looking for a supported step into a people management role.
- A team leader in statutory planning, currently working for a rural council and looking to work on more urban issues without having to relocate to the city/Melbourne.
- An interstate team leader looking to move to Victoria in a management role.
Offering a great team environment and great place to live, this Band 8 role comes with a salary range of $106,371.72 – $118,647.36 + superannuation.
