Position Overview:

Opportunity currently exists for a skilled and passionate Historian to join our clients tight knit team. The successful candidate will conduct research and analysis utilizing a variety of sources to present and interpret history, informing and explaining the historical significance of buildings, sites, precincts, artefacts, and communities. Your work will contribute to a full range of heritage reports, including heritage appraisals and significance assessments.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough historical research using diverse sources such as archives, libraries, and digital databases.
  • Analyze and interpret historical data to explain the significance of buildings, sites, precincts, artefacts, and communities.
  • Prepare and contribute to heritage reports, including heritage appraisals and significance assessments.
  • Collaborate with heritage consultants, architects, and other professionals on conservation and heritage management projects.
  • Communicate findings clearly and effectively to a range of audiences through written reports and presentations.
  • Stay current with developments in the field of history and heritage conservation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Honours or postgraduate degree in architecture, public or applied history, archaeology, or a related field.
  • Experience in historical research and analysis in an academic or institutional setting, or within the heritage consulting and/or architectural sector.
  • Demonstrated interest in specializing in historical research related to the built environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Standard.
  • Strong time management skills.

  •  Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and succinctly for a range of audiences.
  •  Advanced skills in historical research and report templating.
  •  Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  •  Ability to prioritize tasks and manage conflicting requirements.
  •  Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
  •  Willingness to continue learning and developing professional knowledge.
