An opportunity exists for an experienced and strategic leader to manage a team of specialist inspectors. This position plays a critical role in safeguarding quality and compliance across complex and high-profile building projects, to ensure standards are met and consumer confidence is protected.
The Role
As Manager, Specialist Inspections, you will lead and develop a multidisciplinary field-based team responsible for inspections, audits, and enforcement activities across complex or high-risk cases. You’ll coordinate the deployment of specialist resources to priority areas, oversee operational performance, and support strategic programs, campaigns, and pilot initiatives that strengthen regulatory outcomes and industry confidence.
You will also contribute technical oversight, manage escalated matters, and provide expert advice on compliance activities, industry standards, and legislative frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a highly skilled team of inspectors conducting complex inspections and audits.
- Coordinate cross-functional resources to support inspection programs and targeted campaigns.
- Provide technical and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of high-quality, consistent outcomes.
- Engage with industry practitioners to promote compliance, improve standards, and support public safety objectives.
- Contribute to strategic planning, resource allocation, and performance reporting.
- Manage OHS responsibilities, uphold professional standards, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
About You
You are a decisive, collaborative bringing a blend of technical expertise, operational judgment, and people leadership, capable of making the tough decisions.
Your background demonstrates:
- Extensive experience leading and motivating people, a manager who is stable, strong, calm and composed who can coach and mentor teams through change in a dynamic environment.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant legislation, codes, and Australian Standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sound decision-making under pressure.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trust across industry and government.
- Tertiary qualifications in management, business, audit, legal, finance, project management or a related discipline; and/or demonstrated experience leading technical teams.
- Experience in compliance, investigations, or government regulatory roles.
- Certificates in Government Investigations (Cert IV or equivalent) are advantageous.
- Current Victorian driver’s licence and capacity to travel within Victoria.
Qualifications
Mandatory
- Tertiary qualifications in management, business, audit, legal, finance, project management or a related discipline; and/or demonstrated experience leading technical teams.
- Current Victorian driver’s licence and capacity to travel within Victoria.
Desirable
