Job description:
As Principal Architect of the Melbourne office, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of talented architects and designers. You will oversee the successful delivery of projects, maintain excellent client relationships, and drive business development activities to expand their presence in the market. Your expertise in public architecture will be vital in ensuring projects meet the highest standards of design, functionality, and sustainability.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Melbourne office, ensuring the successful delivery of projects within budget and schedule.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture, promoting innovation, creativity, and professional growth among team members.
- Lead business development efforts, identify new opportunities, and develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, understanding their needs, and delivering exceptional service throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee the preparation of architectural designs, construction documentation, and project specifications.
- Conduct thorough quality control checks to ensure design integrity, adherence to regulations, and compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including consultants, contractors, and government authorities, to coordinate project activities.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, incorporating them into project design and delivery.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a recognized institution.
- Registered as an Architect in Victoria with significant professional experience.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and delivering public architecture projects, including sports and recreation, community facilities, educational projects, health or aged care.
- Excellent business development skills with a demonstrated ability to identify opportunities, win new projects, and build lasting client relationships.
- Strong leadership qualities, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Exceptional design sensibility, attention to detail, and understanding of sustainable design principles.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software and project management tools.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and planning processes.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Membership with a relevant professional organisation will be an advantage.
