The Practice: 

Our client is a mid-sized, design-driven architectural practice located.  They are Melbourne based but are currently working on a high profile project in Canberra and require on the ground assistance for up to 18 months. This practice is passionate about creating meaningful architecture, with a focus on Sustainability and  that enhances the built environment. They work on a diverse range of projects, each presenting unique challenges and opportunities for innovation.

 

Role Overview:

They are seeking an experienced Part-Time Project Architect to join our team and play a crucial role in the delivery of a significant, high-profile tertiary education project. This role will involve working closely with the builder and on-site team to ensure the successful execution of the project. Role would be the equivalent of 2-3 days per week, but ideally spaced over 4 – 5 days, so would potentially suit a semi-retired individual or a parent looking for work during school hours.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • On-Site Coordination: Regular site visits to monitor construction progress, assess site conditions, and address any design or construction issues that may arise.
  • Design Review and Coordination: Review shop drawings, construction documents, and specifications to ensure compliance with the design intent and project requirements.
  • Problem-Solving: Collaborate with the construction team to resolve design and construction challenges, providing creative solutions and technical expertise.
  • Client Liaison: Maintain effective communication with the client and project stakeholders, providing regular updates on project progress and addressing any concerns.
  • Documentation: Liaison with Melbourne based team to ensure accurate project documentation, including as-built drawings, site instructions, and variation orders.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in project management and construction administration.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality.
