The Practice:

Our client is a well-established and highly respected Australian architectural practice that has delivered significant projects across health, civic, education, residential and sports sectors. With a reputation for design excellence and a proven track record in technical delivery, this practice has become a trusted partner for government agencies, private developers and community organisations alike.

They operate as one integrated national team, underpinned by advanced cloud-based systems that allow for collaboration across studios in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. This innovative structure ensures project knowledge is shared seamlessly, resources are deployed effectively, and clients benefit from consistent quality regardless of location.

The practice culture is professional yet approachable, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, learning and professional growth. Staff are encouraged to take ownership of their projects while also benefiting from mentorship, knowledge sharing and exposure to diverse project typologies. Their Adelaide studio in particular is growing rapidly on the back of a strong pipeline of health, civic and community projects, making this an excellent time to join.

The Opportunity:

Due to recent project wins in the hospital and healthcare space, this practice is seeking a Senior Architect to join its Adelaide studio. This is a full-time, studio-based role designed for an architect who wants to be a key contributor in shaping the next generation of health infrastructure across South Australia.

You will have the opportunity to lead projects through all stages, from briefing and concept design to detailed documentation, consultant coordination, site inspections and final delivery. As a Senior Health Architect, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that complex hospital projects meet the highest standards of functionality, compliance and user experience.

This role offers the chance to work with a broad range of stakeholders — from government health departments to specialist consultants, medical staff, contractors and community groups. It will suit someone who thrives in a client-facing environment and enjoys the challenge of balancing design quality with highly technical, compliance-driven requirements.

For the right candidate, this position offers not only the chance to lead major projects but also scope to progress into senior associate level and beyond. The practice values leadership, initiative and technical excellence, and actively supports career advancement.

To be Successful:

You will bring:

  • Architectural Registration in Australia with strong technical and leadership experience.
  • A portfolio of healthcare projects, demonstrating capability in planning, design and delivery.
  • Deep knowledge of National Construction Code (NCC) and relevant Australian Standards, with particular expertise in hospital and clinical planning requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate consultant inputs across structural, services and specialist disciplines, ensuring integration of complex systems into architectural solutions.
  • Experience dealing directly with clients, contractors and end users, including undertaking site inspections and managing RFI processes.
  • Proficiency in Revit and confidence in coordinating documentation within a BIM environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, including mentoring junior architects and technicians, leading project teams and maintaining quality standards under pressure.
  • Experience with site management platforms such as Aconex or Procore is highly regarded.
