Prominent Melbourne based council is seeking a Senior Building Control Officer to join the team on a permanent basis. We are looking for a Building Surveyor or Inspector with at least BS-L or IN-L registration. The role will have you working with leading Building Surveyors on a range of projects giving variety to your work, while offering a clear career path to progress forward.

The role will aid the MBS and DMBS in achieving enforcement, audit, permit and inspection targets for the team and meet Councils obligations. Specifically, this position will carry out a program of audits, assess applications for Occupancy Permits, undertake investigations, inspections, and assist in the implementation of an effective program of building and local law audits and inspections, carry out enforcements and contribute to the further development of the team.

You will:

• Possess a Building Surveying qualification with a minimum registration of BS-L or IN-L.
• Have experience in resolving complex disputes, exercising sound judgement and dealing with difficult customers, with little detailed guidance relying solely on your own expertise.
• Have a sound knowledge in building legislative procedures and demonstrated experience in checking, auditing and inspecting a range of buildings ideally commercial Class 2 – 9 buildings.
• Have a high level of experience in administration and enforcement of the Building Act, Building Regulations and relevant Local Laws in a Council.
