The objective of the Senior Building Surveyor is to provide assistance to the MBS and DMBS to achieve compliance by carrying out enforcement, ESM audits, assess applications and other duties as required, in order to meet Council’s obligations under the Building Act 1993.

Specifically, the role will carry out a program of audits of existing buildings and undertake enforcement action to bring buildings into compliance. In addition, to assess and process applications for Report and Consent including siting matters, precautions, projections, etc.

You will have:

  • A qualification in Building Surveying and minimum registration as a Building Practitioner in the category of Building Inspector or Building Surveyor.
  • Demonstrates experience in resolving complex disputes, exercising sound judgement and dealing with difficult customers, with little detailed guidance relying solely on your own expertise.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in building legislative procedures.
  • Experience in auditing and inspection of either multi-storey or heritage listed buildings.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading, motivating and operating in high-quality customer service environment with a strong team focus.
  • Experience in administration and enforcement of the Building Act, Building Regulations and relevant Local Laws in a Council.

This position is offered on a permanent full-time basis, with a salary package up to $130,000.
