Senior Planner – Get Away from writing applications!
- Influencing role rather than day-day planning applications
- Client facing role on complex, high profile, political projects
- Suit a planner looking for something “A bit different”
Sitting at the intersection of planning, government relations, media and community engagement, the focus of this role is to augment the work of planning consultants in their development approvals processes.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified town planner and have gained enough experience in the planning system to understand the planning process, timelines, and planning pathways as they relate to potential development.
Working directly with the proponent and very often in conjunction with planning consultancies and their team, this role sits above the miniature of planning applications and works at a holistic level on the political and community environmental level to create broader sentiments and arguments which support the planning application.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified planner and have experience working on contentious planning issues (from either the private or and an understanding of how local sentiment, media and politics have the potential to influence outcomes).
Whilst there is no emphasis in this role on business development) this is a client facing role where you will have to influence clients as to the best course of action and be able to instill a clear sense of direction in how they go about complex processes. As such exceptional verbal communication skills are required.
The role would suit a planner who is looking to leave the day-day report writing behind and focus on higher level strategy across a broad variety of project types where no two problems are ever the same. Salary package circa $100-130K.
