Senior Economics/ Property Economics Consultant – NSW

Our client is a team of economists, property economists and valuers who provide the critical inputs needed to carry out land use and strategic planning, infrastructure and development planning. Their advice informs investment and policy decisions by a range of private and public sector clients. They work with investors and developers, planning authorities, delivery agencies and policy makers to shape cities and regions right across NSW, VIC, ACT, QLD and WA.

Projects vary from reviewing existing property portfolios, testing planning controls and policy settings, providing feasibility advice, compulsory acquisition/compensation work, expert evidence/advocacy work relating to economic justification for major development, development land use and staging, gathering market intelligence for employment land strategies and housing strategies, providing economic expertise into urban revitalisation projects as well as the opportunity to work on important societal issues that shape the way people live and work, for example delivery of affordable housing and infrastructure that supports development.

Our client is currently looking for a Senior Consultant to join their team based in Sydney. You will have the opportunity to be involved in projects of all scales – from city-shaping projects to projects that are important at a local level.

Specifically you will:

  • Take the lead on projects and client management.
  • Leverage your industry and client network for business opportunities.
  • Carry out the research and analysis to provide advice relating to land use and masterplans.
  • Carry out cost-benefit modelling and analytics research to support clients who are planning for growth and infrastructure.
  • Maintain and update the teams’ intellectual property databases.
  • Prepare client submissions and proposals including scoping and costing of project bids.
  • Contribute to maintaining and growing client relationships.
  • Nurture and develop individual team members through mutually supportive mentoring.

We are seeking someone with at least 6-8 years relevant experience in a consulting environment with tertiary qualifications in Economics, Finance, Property Economics or similar quantitative discipline.  You will have demonstrated experience with economic evaluation, a background working on relevant projects with an interest or specialty in land use and urban economics.

This role calls for an individual with the ability to grasp the ‘big picture’ with no less attention to the detail coupled with an analytical and inquisitive mind that seeks to find solutions for complex issues. Effective communication is critical in this role, so you will have demonstrated writing and presentation skills that convey quantitative and qualitative findings in a form that is engaging and of high quality for clients.

This is a wonderful opportunity suited to someone aspiring to a leadership role both within the organisation and the industry, to join a market-leading group with highly experienced Directors and Principals to provide the support and direction to succeed.
