(FILLED) Senior Planning Advisor

If you are an experienced Senior Planner who are passionate about protecting the environment and amenity and health of Victorians, then this role is for you!

  • Join EPA to help safeguard the environmental wellbeing of Victoria
  • Melbourne CBD location with flexible working arrangements
  • VPS 5 with salary range from $102K – $114K + super

The EPA is Victoria’s environmental regulator – preventing and reducing harmful effects of pollution and waste on the environment, amenity and human health.

This role sits within the Permissioning and Development Branch – which leads the EPA’s role as a referral authority for planning and other statutory decisions while providing advice to ensure the prevention of harm to the environment, amenity and human health is considered in planning processes.

As a Senior Planning Advisor, you will be responsible for providing advice on strategic planning matters – including precinct structure plans (PSP), urban renewal projects, planning scheme amendments and planning policy – from the environmental standpoint. You will also deliver EPA’s role as referral authority for all planning decisions.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical planning experience – would be very suitable for a Senior/Principal (Band 7) Strategic Planner in local government wanting to make a switch to State Government. This role is also ideal for an experienced Planning Consultant (Senior/Associate Director) in the private sector who is looking to pivot to government.

Apart from technical expertise, we are also looking for candidates with some leadership experience – someone who can take lead, review and mentor juniors, and be the go-to person in the team. You will be someone who can work autonomously while also contributing to the team culture.

The culture is  collegiate, understanding, friendly and dynamic. Aside from the competitive salary packages, the EPA also prides itself in offering fantastic work conditions and flexibility e.g. hybrid working or 9-day fortnight – which can be negotiated with the successful candidate.
