Senior Policy Review Officer

Local council require the assistance of a short-term (2-3 month) policy review officer to undertake a review of the effectiveness of one of their recently (2020) implemented policies.

Taking a birds-eye view of the policy it will review the effectiveness of a potentially divisive policy which has several competing agendas ranging from service to the community vs economic return, competing priorities of one community group versus another, commitment to broad organisation wide goals vs benefit to individual residents. This role will help summarise the effectiveness of the policy in its current form and provide the basis for an executive summary on ways to potentially adapt and improve the policy.

The ideal candidate will have come from the public sector (preferably local government but some state government policy roles would also be considered suitable backgrounds) which will give them insight into the workings or local government and perspective on the competing agendas. They will have a solid policy background and have taken carriage over the delivery of one or more policies from start to finish.

The role is offering an hourly rate of circa $50-60 an hour and is likely to run for 2-3 months. The opportunity for a hybrid office/home role is also on offer.
