Utilising your experience of Precinct level strategy, your role will be to work on the master planning of an underdeveloped 230 Hectare site you will play a key role in shaping the development direction for the site over the next 40-50 years.
Involved in the long-term/vision planning you’ll be comfortable working within ambiguity, understanding that the business strategy, stakeholders, legislation and other factors are likely to change over the life-span of the project so your plan needs to be prescriptive enough to allow for development certainly and parameters on current projects, but be flexible enough to allow for changes in medium-long term planning.
Your role will change from macro-scale long term oversight into micro involvement in projects (at the brief/workshop level as opposed to taking over complete project management of built form projects) as such you will be involved in:
Strategically: Working on the masterplan refresh, engaging Urban Design, Transport and other experts to ensure that the masterplan meets the needs of the business case and is continually refined to ensure that it is also responsive to changes in business climate and project direction.
Operationally: As the custodian of the masterplan for the precinct you will work with internal stakeholders, development managers, engineers and even neighbours/neighbouring developers at the interface of the masterplan to ensure that current design proposals and design briefs constructed by the organisation are in line with the strategic vision for the site.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced planner/urban designer who’s worked at the precinct scale at a strategic level on projects. Whilst preference is for a person with an understanding of the VPP’s, as there are other planners in the team the understanding of what makes a good precinct and the ability to corral disparate groups into a unified project team is more important than local planning knowledge.
This role will run on a contract basis for an initial 6-9 months and is then likely to be formalised in a fixed-term contract for 2-3 years. Offering an attractive package, longer term opportunities and the opportunity to work clientside this opportunity is likely to attract a lot of interest.
