Planning Candidates – New South Wales

Planning Manager – NSW

Originally from Brisbane, they have over 20 years’ experience in QLD, NSW, and in New Zealand. They have worked for both private and government sector – including a role with a developer with a focus on acquisitions in NSW, VIC, and QLD.

They have been working on a contract basis in New Zealand since 2019 – and they are currently on a contract role as a Planning and Regulatory Services Manager in a district council where they are responsible for all town planning, resource management functions and staff. Their role also means that they have direct liaison with CEO and Councillors.

They’re keen to return to Australia and would prefer a contract role in regional Councils – anywhere in NSW. They are someone who prefers to work in smaller/rural communities rather than big cities. Ideally would prefer a leadership role – so they would be great for Interim Manager roles.


Senior Planner – NSW

12 years’ experience having worked for a large land development company and currently at a small surveying company. They have experience in various types of projects including DAs for residential, commercial, industrial developments e.g. dwellings, rezoning, major subdivisions, gas distribution facilities, concrete batching plants, storage facilities and agricultural farms.

They’ve been working as a sole Town Planner for many years, so they’re keen to find opportunities where they can be part of a larger team. Would be open to both permanent and contract roles – either in a private consultancy or in a local council.


Urban Designer – NSW

Mid-level Urban Designer with experience working for highly regarded national practice, and more recently in a public environment.  Is seeking opportunity to take the next step in their career.  Ideally looking for an opportunity that will give exposure to Strategic Planning or with highly challenging projects.  Excellent design skills, with highly developed skills in visualisation.


Principal Planner – NSW

They have 20 years of experience in NSW local government – they’ve worked for inner-City Councils as well as growth area councils. They also have held leadership positions including Coordinator and Team Leader of the Development Assessment team.

In terms of technical skills – they have worked on a wide range of DAs (including major projects) from dwellings (new, additions, and alterations), commercial, retail uses including industrial and residential flat buildings, dual occupancies, industrial development, and shop top housing. They also have been involved in a number of Section 34 conferences.

They are now in a contract role for a local council helping and the contract is finishing up at the end of February. Would be suitable for contract Principal Planner roles.


Part-time/Remote Working – Senior Planner 

They have 9 years’ experience with QLD and NSW systems. Originally from the Gold Coast, they started working during uni for a planning consultancy doing DAs for gyms, service-stations, townhouses, childcare centres, and coastal applications. They then moved to QLD State Government, working on DAs, policy, planning scheme reviews, legislation drafting, and worked on reviewing rural DA processes.

They moved to NSW State Government, working on major rezoning proposals and project manage a key rezoning. Currently still working on a project management role.

They are ideally looking for contract work outside of business hours circa 10-20 hours per week. Ideal for report writing roles to help with backlog reports.


Senior/Principal Planner – NSW

This highly experienced candidate has worked in Planning for about 30 years – they have worked for local and state government (City of Sydney, DPIE, TfNSW) as well as private consultancies. They’ve also held leadership roles including Manager and Director roles.

Key projects include: redevelopment of Mid City Centre, Ivy (Stage 1), master plan consent for Macquarie Park, Homebush Corporate Centre, and the new Sydney Zoo.

Their contract with State Gov has completed and they’re looking for short-term contract role as a Senior or Principal Planner. Available immediately.


Project Officer – NSW

Originally from QLD, they worked for a year at a local council as a Community Planning and Policy Officer – delivering a Community Wellbeing Strategy. They then studied Master of Urban and Regional Planning at University of Sydney, and after graduating, they’ve been working for NSW Government since 2022 as a Project Officer in Asset Management.

Key responsibilities are to write reports for funding purposes to manage social housing assets.

Keen to pivot towards land-use planning, they are open to opportunities as a DA or Strategic Planner in a local council. Open to contract or permanent roles.


Senior Planner – QLD moving to SYD 

Overall, they have 6 years’ experience mainly in QLD – and they’ve worked for both local gov and private consultancy. Have diverse experience including petrol stations, industrial developments, subdivisions (smaller scale), and residential developments. They have exposure to NSW, VIC and QLD systems from a period when they worked for an engineering services company.

They are keen to relocate to Sydney and would be open to coming in on a Planner level instead of Senior. Salary circa $90k + super.


Senior Transport Planner – Working Holiday Visa

A Senior Transport Planner from the UK currently in Australia on a Working Holiday Visa. In the UK, they worked for AECOM, WSP, and SLR Consulting on many different projects. Examples include signage strategy, transport assessments, active traffic corridors (walking and cycling), general master planning of town centres.

Big project was the HS2 – where their team was responsible to get the legal bill to go through parliament.

They’re here in a Working Holiday Visa (2 years) – which will allow them to work for an employer for up to 12 months. Therefore, they would be great for contract opportunities.

Open to any capital cities in Australia.
