Town Planners – Work in Australia!

Town Planners – Work in Australia!

Looking for something different?  Try Melbourne, Australia for size…!

By current predictions Melbourne’s population is tipped to overtake Sydney in the next 10 years and remains a city that is consistently voted in the top 10 liveable cities.  The increased development pressure is creating a shortage of qualified planners and a once in a lifetime opportunity for planners looking to emigrate to Australia where they can help shape the face of Australia for future generations.

Our client is a consistently expanding multidisciplinary consultancy with a head-office based in Melbourne (but with multiple offices across the eastern seaboard).  They have a long track record of service delivery for clients (both as an integrated service offering incorporating engineering, surveying, design and planning for some of Australia’s largest private sector developers, as well as offering planning as a stand-alone service across both the public and private sector).

The client has recently won a major multi-phased approvals project which ensures them a pipeline of work for the next couple of years in addition to their existing projects. The project is multi-phased, multi-facility across several locations and involves the management of various cross-government stakeholders, milestones, and support consultants.  The strong requirement on project and stakeholder management for this role allows them to look at candidates outside the local pool of candidates.

Having already hired people from the UK they see the UK/Ireland/NZ market as a relatively untapped talent pool.  They are aware that traditionally UK, Kiwi and Irish Planners have made the transition between the two different planning systems well (both into Australia and vice versa) and are interested in talking to senior planners and above who are looking for an adventure.

To be considered for this role you will need to:

  • Be currently at a level where you are able to manage the day-day interaction with clients, consultants and responsible authorities/council.
  • Have consultancy experience.
  • Be willing to commence quickly (circa 6-8 weeks max). This is likely to mean that you either have a valid work visa already in place or are eligible for a 417/Working Holiday visa.

On offer is an attractive salary, costs of flights and visa’s covered and longer-term sponsorship subject to performance and eligibility.
